5 Weeks Learning Series for Women - Video

SBM is proud to announce its 3rd year of a 5 weeks Learning Series for Women. The goal of the series is to provide lectures for the women in our community by women who are educated, experienced and strong in Judaic studies while giving them a modern and practical perspective. The series will be on Sunday mornings at Shaare Rachamim starting on February 18th. We welcome ALL women of the community to participate in this unique program. The Megillah Reading by Askan Enayatian will be taking place at booth AWE 1-B25.
Mincha will be at 6pm followed by arvit and Megillah

New Class for Bar-Mitzvah Boys

There will be a new session of Talmud Torah starting this Sunday (February 25th) from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm for all kids bar mitzvah age and up to learn anything from how to put on their tefillin properly to becoming a Chazan for a Minyan. Please encourage your kids to come. Bistro lunch will be served after every class and prizes will be awarded to those who attend consistently. The class will be taught by Yoav Arjang for any questions please reach out to him (516)-695-7606

All children up to 6th Grades are invited to the cafeteria on Wednesday, February 28th at 5:45pm for Purim games and a magic show! All children Kindergarten and under must be accompanied by an adult.

A Special Purim Bake Sale

There is Purim Bake and Mishloach Manot Sale Feb 25 10 am-6pm at Shaare Rachamim. We will be selling over 100 baked goods and mishloach manots made from women in the community. Purim Baskets (Mishloach Manot)

For many years Marilyn Kordvani organized the sale of Mishloach Manot gift baskets in our synagogues. In her memory, her daughter Cheri Haghighat will continue in this tradition. As usual the baskets will be packed with only Israeli products (mostly Kosher for Pesach). They are exceptional value and usually sell out very quickly. New Siddur

On behalf of the community, the Shaare Shalom Board would like to thank Mr. Edward Dilamani (under the supervision of Rabbi Eliyahoo Ben Haim) for all the hard work over many years that went into producing the new silver/gray siddur. This siddur, which is based on Mashadi customs, has many features which helps the reader in his prayers and will be of great benefit to our community. Submitted by Ephraim Aminoff.

The team brings individuals together from around the world and unifies them towards a common goal: providing quality care for individuals with disabilities, empowering their families and promoting social change. Team SHALVA is a diverse group of nearly 400 runners who travel from all over the world, including a Mashadi group, to Israel to participate in the Jerusalem Marathon in support of SHALVA. Dear friends, we like to inform you of a very important Government /Medicaid program that could be valuable to you. If you are taking care of an elderly or disabled relative or friend, you can get paid for it by Medicaid! If an elderly or disabled person needs help several hours a week, they can THEMSELVES choose a relative or friend to do it. And this caregiver will get paid for by Medicaid! The programs are called CDPAP ( Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program ) and CDPASS (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services and Support ) Please be aware that a spouse is not eligible ! Passover Rice Information 2018

As per phone conversations with rice importers, Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Haiim has confirmed that the following brands of rice are 100% pure, no additives, or preservatives, or vitamins. Therefore, they are suitable for use for Passover. The following brands are: Colbeh – Deer – Dunar – Empire – Khazana – Kohinoor - Lal Qilla – Pari – Royal – Zebra. Brown Rices have not been checked. Please contact your local rabbi for any questions. Please avoid using any enriched rice. Ohr Esther Synagogue is collecting unused, unopened, non-perishable food for Island Harvest, a local food pantry serving thousands of poor families on Long Island. The collection will begin on Friday, March 16 and continue through Thursday, March 29 The drop off point will be Ohr Esther Synagogue (130 Steamboat Road). Pesach and Shiras in Shaare Shalom

The last Shabbat for regular shira candies in Shaare Shalom will be March 17th. On Sunday March 18th, Shaare Shalom be cleaned for Pesach. Lost & Found @ our Synagogues

Throughout the year many members of our community forget or misplace some personal belongings in the synagogue. These items are collected and placed on lost and found bins located in the coat room. After consulting with the religious council these items will be given to charity, every year, before Pesach. Please check the lost and found if you have lost or misplaced any items.
