The following Measurements for the Seder Night were made under Rabbi Ben Haim's direct supervision for the Community’s convenience:

- For each cup of wine, the minimum proper amount is 3 fl. ounces (a Reviit)
- For each time we eat Matza (Motzi, Matza, Korech, Tzafun), the minimum proper amount (a Kezayit) is approximately:
1/4 of a Circle Hand Made Shemura Matza sold at Shaare Shalom (~10.7 grams of Matza) or 1/3 of a Square Machine Made Yehuda Matza (~12.4 grams of Matza)
- For Maror, the minimum proper amount (a Kezayit) is approximately:1 Large Romaine Lettuce Leaf (or 2 White Stems of Romaine Lettuce) or1/2 a Medium Sized Endive (16 grams of an Endive)

Mayor Bral Announces Lifting of Parking Restrictions for Religious Observance

OVERNIGHT parking regulations are suspended for the Passover and Easter holidays from Friday, April 19 at 5 p.m. till 8 a.m., April 22nd and then from April 26th at 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., April 29th. These OVERNIGHT regulations are suspended on all village streets EXCEPT Middle Neck Road, Steamboat Road, East Shore Road.For safety reasons, all other parking restrictions will remain in effect. For example, the following continue to be strictly prohibited, and, if violated, tickets will be issued:
Parking where a sign states no parking or no standing
1. Parking where a sign states or indicates no parking here to corner
2. Parking in fire lanes or in front of fire hydrants
3. Parking that blocks a driveway
4. Parking on or within 20 feet of a crosswalk
5. Parking within 30 feet of a stop sign

Yom Hashoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day Program May 2

Please join us for the annual Yom Hashoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day Program on Thursday May 2nd. Our honorary guest speaker this year is Dr. Moshe Avital. Dr. Avital survived 6 different concentration camps during the Holocaust and eventually fought for the IDF in Israel's wars. There will be a candle lighting ceremony with our community's Rabbis and the winners of the Yom Hashoah Art, Writing & Film Contest will be announced. Yom Hashoah Contest FINAL

Yom HaShoah Art, Writing & Poetry Contest

This year in honor of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the UMJCA has created a contest for the community's youth. Contestants will be given the opportunity to portray their thoughts, feelings, and experiences of the Holocaust in honor of the 6 Million Jewish lives that were lost. Categories: 1- Art; 2- Writing/Poetry; 3- Film & Photography. There will be a 1st and 2nd place winner for Middle School and a 1st and 2nd place winner for High School Prizes: 1st Place - $150 Amazon Gift Card; 2nd Place - $50 Amazon Gift Card. All Entries must be sent in by April 12th to be reviewed by the judges. Winners will be announced at the Yom HaShoah Memorial event on May 2nd. For the full rules and for submissions, please email

Staff interviews for Camp MJC taking place this week
Camp MJC is hiring Morot (for grades K-1), counselors, lifeguards, junior counselors, an EMT, Trip Leaders and more, and would like to give community members the opportunity to apply for these positions. All camp staff must be a minimum of 16 years old at the start of the summer. Please inquire about our new salary structure and bonus system for counselors!
