Blessing of the Fruit Trees - Birkat Hailanot at Shaare Shalom
This Shabbat April 19 after Musaf the Birkat Hailanot (blessing of the fruit trees) is going to be recited in Shaare Shalom backyard. The fruit trees of the apple, peach, goujeye sabz and apricot are in full blossom. Join Rabbi Kohanim on this once a year event. Kaddish would be recited after the blessing. Yom HaShoah Event at Shaare Shalom – Wed, Apr 23
A Yom HaShoah Event has been organized at Shaare Shalom on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30 pm. This year’s guest speaker is Holocaust Survivor Gabor Gross. He was born in Debrecen, Hungary, in 1935. At the young age of eight years old, Gabor was deported from his home along with his mother and older brother. He was taken to Austria where he was a forced field laborer before being taken to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Gabor was liberated from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp by British troops at the end of the war and reflects on his harrowing experiences as a Holocaust survivor. Light dinner and refreshments will be served. Submitted by Jack Azarahian.

Massuah Amphitheater in Tel Yitzchak (Israel) honoring Mrs Shoshana (Arfa) Cohen
Dear community member we would like to bring to your attention that Amphitheater in KibutzTel Yitzchak will be honoring Mrs Shoshana (Arfa) Cohen a 95 years old holocaust survivor fromHungary to light Beacon on Yom Hashoah. It would be a great honor if you as a representative of the Mashadi Jewish community can participate in this historical event. Wednesday April 23, 2025, at 8:00 pm at Massuah Kibutz Tel Yitzchak. Door will be open at 6:30 pm. All Community members are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Mrs Shoshana (Arfa) Cohen is Married to late Mr Shimon (Arfa) Cohen Aunt of Marina Orly Dilamani. Submitted by Marina Dilamani.

We are excited to announce that the latest edition of the Directory of the Mashadi Jewish Community is currently in preparation. It will be the 50th Year Anniversary of the publication and we hope to make it the most thorough and accurate directory yet! In the upcoming weeks, each household shall receive a letter with a form to complete for registration.
